A California trial lawyer can make about $1 million annually by working as a trial lawyer.
A California court clerk can make $350,000 a year.
And a California judge can make a total of $2.2 million.
But in the world of California legal circles, the best-paid lawyers have long been the top lawyers, with the biggest salaries paid to trial lawyers.
In fact, some California judges have been earning more than $1.7 million annually for the past 10 years.
The number of trial lawyers who are making more than the California Supreme Court’s Chief Justice is increasing, said Michael R. Schreiber, a professor at the University of California-Davis School of Law who studies the compensation of California judges.
In 2015, there were 589 trial lawyers in the California court system.
In 2017, there had been 829.
But in 2018, there have been only 484.
Schreiber said trial lawyers are earning more because of the growing number of cases that go before California’s high courts.
“When you have so many people who can handle all the cases that are brought in the state, and you have the ability to take care of the court system in an efficient and cost-effective manner, you’ve got a huge pool of potential candidates,” he said.
Schuette, who was the chief trial lawyer in San Diego County until he was fired in March for a conflict of interest, has been making $2 million a year since the court began accepting applications in 2017.
Schwartz, the trial lawyer from San Diego who has been with the firm since 2008, has a salary of $1,400 a month, according to court records.
She can also make about one-third as much as Schreib and other trial lawyers make, depending on the state.
Schwarzinger, who is also the lead trial lawyer for the city of Los Angeles, made $2,500 a month in 2018.
She has also made about $700,000 as a judge in the past five years.
In a statement, Schwartz said she was surprised by the numbers, adding, “My salary has been so much higher than anyone I’ve ever worked with.”
Schwagens attorney, David O’Brien, said the salary gap between trial lawyers and trial clerks is not as wide as many of the critics have suggested.
The legal world’s biggest pay gap, however, is between the highest paid lawyers and the clerks who handle the most cases, O’Connor said.
In addition to the clerks, trial lawyers, and trial judges, there are a lot of trial attorneys, clerks, and judges in the private sector who make less than trial lawyers or judges.
That’s because many of those people are lawyers who specialize in the defense, not the prosecution, said O’Connell, who specializes in employment law.
In the past decade, the number of lawyers who make more than a judge has increased dramatically, even as the number who make as little as a prosecutor has decreased.
But the gap between the two has widened even more.
In 2016, there was only one California trial judge with a salary over $1 billion, according the California Public Defender Association.
The next highest paid lawyer was a former federal judge who was paid $1 per hour, more than three times the average salary for a judge.
Schwitz, who has also worked as a lawyer in New York City, has not had a salary that high since 2013, when she was a trial judge in Los Angeles County.
But she said that’s because she and her husband, Richard Schwartz, had a big family.
“We just want to make sure that we give our kids the best chance for a bright future,” she said.
A spokesman for the Los Angeles Superior Court, which handles the most serious cases, declined to comment.
The salaries of lawyers in other states are also increasing, although not as dramatically.
A spokesman for New York’s highest court, however said that the number in the U.S. has remained relatively stable over the past year.
The average pay for a lawyer was about $2 billion last year, according a recent analysis by the law firm Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck.
The U.K. is seeing a similar rise in salaries among its highest-paid judges, who are being paid more than judges in other countries, such as the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, said John W. Rennie, a partner at law firm Rennye.
In France, a judge earns $2 per hour in 2017, compared with $1 in the United Kingdom, where judges make $3 per hour.
Rennye’s study also found that a judge’s salary is a major driver of whether they have access to a jury pool.
The higher a judge is paid, the more likely they are to be in a jury trial.
